Chemical Inventory Management and Pollution Prevention Program

April 27, 2022 | 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Virtual

Learn how MIT’s centralized chemical inventory system can help your lab reduce purchasing & waste generation.

Green Chemistry is the design of chemical products or processes that either reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances. An efficient chemical inventory management system, in conjunction with a hazardous waste program, can reduce over-purchasing and waste generation.
With a well-maintained inventory, less over-purchasing will lead to less waste being generated.

This presentation will discuss how the EHS Office supports green chemistry through chemical inventory sharing and chemical exchanges.

Speakers: Patrick O’Donnell, Industrial Hygiene Chemical Inventory Specialist, EHS and Steve Monstur, Senior Officer, EHS – Environmental Management Program (EMP)

This seminar is part of the Safe & Sustainable Labs (S2L) - Earth Month Seminar Series. S2L is an initiative to promote a safe and sustainable research environment to align with MIT’s Climate Action Plan. A partnership between Environment, Health & Safety Office, Department of Facilities, Office of Sustainability, Office of Vice President for Finance, and DLCs.
