Please contact the EHS Occupational & Construction Safety Program (OCSP) (safety@mit.edu) if you would like to pursue an event plan that may require a firefighter detail. You will be required to submit an event application and provide a safety plan with the application. The EHS Safety Program will review the application and safety plan submission and provide comments and/or approval to the event planner. The need for a firefighter detail will be handled during the review process. CFD requests that MIT staff/students and vendors work through EHS OCSP first to ensure that all proper safety requirements and procedures are documented before submitting a request for a fire detail. Note that each event is responsible for contacting, applying, coordinating, and paying for CFD the detail. EHS will provide support where necessary.
The MIT event planners must complete the webform, not the vendor, unless hot work is required as part of the event. If hot work is required, you will be instructed through the EHS Hot Work Program POC as to what other information and procedures are required to obtain the permit and detail from CFD. Details can no longer be scheduled in person or via email. The firefighter detail may be applied for online at the CFD website – Fire Detail Information.
