Autoclaving Waste & Validation Program

Updated July 28, 2010

All biologically contaminated research waste must be autoclaved before disposal (Massachusetts, 105 CMR 480.000: State Sanitary Code, Storage Disposal Infectious Waste). In order to be sure that the autoclaving has inactivated/killed the microorganisms, MIT has established the Autoclave Validation Program. This program is designed to comply with state and local regulations and protect our community and the environment. If you have any questions, please contact the Biosafety Program at (617) 452-3477 or bsp@mit.edu
